I've been having a little problem with my Internet/Lan connection and I read
in the link at the bottom of this page that it may be due to a possible bug
between Windows x64 and Marvell Lan x64 drivers due to loss of "samba
shares." I'm not sure what this means, but when using the Marvell Lan port
with my Win x64 system (specifics are in my signature in the link below), my
network would work very slowly when opening multiple pages at once...
sometimes even coming to a complete halt with occasional spikes of activity
on Windows Task Manager.

I have two Lan ports on my board and I unplugged my ethernet cable from the
Marvell Lan port to the nForce4 Lan port, installed the latest nForce4 Lan
drivers, and everything works normally.

Anyone know of a way to confirm if this is a bug? I want to make sure my
Marvell Lan port isn't broken.

Samba shares are in Linux to allow interfacing with MS Windows networks,
so that problem would not be on Win x64's side of the house. That
would be a Linux problem - which is not covered in this forum.

Hmmm, ok. Well then I am thoroughly confused.

I formatted my PC and installed Windows XP Home just to see what would
happen. The Marvell LAN port appeared to work fine. Well, that isn't
entirely true... it was working great at first as I got a nice level 2.5 GB/S
download from it for a few minutes. Then it started to become a little
slower than I expected and I think its because my PC got infested with
spyware while browsing (I didn't download any updates and just started
opening random pages from a Google search to see how the Internet worked).
It started slowing down when my CPU usage was 100% when idle. However, I did
notice that the connection was always present... it never died or halted like
it did in Win x64.

Anyways, I'm using the NVidia Lan port now. I'm assuming if the Internet
was partially working at least, its unlikely to be a hardware issue.

You should D/L the latest drivers from the Motherboard manufacturers
website. Do not apply the "driver update" that is on MS Update; it will
also slow down the connector.

Windows x64 installs a driver automatically for the Marvell port without
updates. I went directly to Marvell and downloaded their latest Win x64
drivers and updated it. I actually never use my motherboard CD as all the
drivers on it are outdated... I go directly to the manufacturer sites and
download the most up-to-date stuff.

I never use Driver Update on the Microsoft site... ick...

Not sure which driver you have, but Windows update had an update available
recently.
