Yes, but it still manages to confuse users into thinking they are actually
in the Technical beta, because they using a beta themselves.

One gets a beta id in the first beta test you ever do for MS. You keep that
beta id forever more, and re-use it every time you're in another beta. That
beta id is in every email you get from the beta mailer daemon.

Gary;
Send an Email to your Beta contact at Microsoft.
It should also be on some of your Email from Microsoft.
It will not be on anything related to the CPP.

Quite true, when I became an mvp, I received a new betaID. I don't know why
and I wasn't really happy because the first one I had was a very small #
but nevertheless, it doesn't change anything

Cheers

I kept my original one. Though I remember someone asking IF I had one, and I
rattled off the number and it never came up again. I'd be annoyed if mine
changed now, I've had it so long.

Even though I bought my XP64 copy on day 1, I'll certainly use the other
freebie to deploy another x64 machine.
I in fact noticed that MS fixed certain bugs at the very last minute, such
as the find command unable to read beyond 4GB.

Just that I've used it so long I have it memorized and built into other
things. Would be a minor nuisance to get a new one. And a total PITA to have
a different one for every beta. (You don't want to know how many betas I'm on
at any given time.)
