Default Microsft's statement on Windows 2000 & NT Source code LEAK...

I don't know if anyone else has been following this, but yesterday on
Slashdot there was news that the source code for both OS's was leaked onto
the internet, and now there's a press release from MS here:
http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/p...dowssource.asp

I thought it was a joke at first, but confirmation leads to new questions.
Obviously, worst case scenario is tons of new exploits are found in the code
since it's never been vetted before. With the latest security update MS
fixed a problem that was reported to them 6 months ago and has actually been
in the software for years. With the source code someone could potentially
find exploits/bugs much easier and implement them in a malicious way.
Certainly a 6 month windows between the exploit and a fix is not going to
cut it....... Any thoughts...?

There are plenty of people out there that spend their time reverse
engineering other people's code. You can bet that Microsoft do it and
Microsoft's competitors do it, as well as many the many crackers out
there - it's nothing new.

Having their [microsoft] source code stolen is quite funny though, but
I for one will not lose any sleep over it.
