Hi all, I am currently new to this the MCSE track. I read there is MCSE 2000 and MCSE 2003. Which is based on Windows 2000 and Windows 2003. I don't really know which one is best, 2000 or 2003. The exams are different . Please i need some advice on this. Thanks winters |

MCSE for the 2003 family is just that. Where's the confusion? > > I don't really know which one is best, 2000 or 2003. The > exams are different . Please i need some advice on this. "Best" is a relative term. What are you planning to do with your cert? Are you more interested in Windows 2000 or 2003? If you're currently in the business, what OS does your company use? 2003 will be around longer (note that certifications don't expire, but the exams are retired), so the cert may hold its value longer into the future. The bottom line is it's up to you. -- KB - MCNGP "silent thug" #26 first initial last name AT hotmail DOT com Ken Briscoe |

I agree, if I were starting out, I'd go with the 2003 exams - the OS is out, eval copies are available, the certification will have a longer shelf life...Good Luck, Jim

----- Jim wrote: ---- I agree, if I were starting out, I'd go with the 2003 exam OK. That's one opinion Then there is the other that says NT4 server deployments still account for the largest number of server OS's stil in a production environment (this may have changed, bu only very recently if at all) Then the second largest would currently be Win2K Server That all the evidence suggests that a good deal of Window 2000 Server deployments will stay just that for some time to come, with decision makers finding it hard to justif upgrade dollars / reasons at this time That even Microsoft is pushing NT4 upgrades to Windows Server 2003 technologies and not doing a lot to push al those Win2K deployments towards upgrades, at this time Consider also that you can get MCSA / E on Win2K likely a little easier than on the Windows Server 2003 track, an it takes just two more exams to have a total of 5 certs MCP, MCSA & MCSE on Win2K, MCSA & MCSE on Win2003 Most of us here were advocating strongly for the MCSE on Win2K route and then upgrading via two exams as recently as just a few short months ago. I don't see wha has changed in that time So do the 2000 stream. With MCSA. Upgrade to 2003 skills Then look at some specialisations, such as Security, Messagin or SQL exams for MCDBA =?Utf-8?B?TWFya28=?= |
