is trying to instal on my comp.
I'm sick and tired of b...y & f...d MS constantly feeding my comp with
more and more crap and not bothering to say a word, what the crap is

You'd better get used to it, & *especially* if you upgrade to Vista
(& M$ may even make you at some future point). M$ will then control your
machine, & Windoze will delete your applications if it doesn't like them
*without* informing you!

"Vista seemingly wrestles control of the "user experience" from the user.
Vista's legal fine print includes extensive provisions granting Microsoft
the right to regularly check the legitimacy of the software and holds the
prospect of deleting certain programs without the user's knowledge. During
the installation process, users "activate" Vista by associating it with a
particular computer or device and transmitting certain hardware
information directly to Microsoft."

It's a bit old, unless they updated it again for patch tuesday, today.

That's KB873374, as mentioned it scans for a list of MS applications.

Unless you read the link given, or
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...jpeg_tool.mspx
what the GDI fix is for is,

The GDI+ security update for September 2004 addresses a security issue
in JPEG processing technology. This issue affects software that supports
this image format, including some versions of Microsoft Windows and
Microsoft Office.

A good place to look up this stuff is the US-CERT site, here is the GDI
info, http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/techalerts/TA04-260A.html

Tough it's MS. Vista on the day it was released had 7 or 8 updates all
ready to download.

If you download BigFix (free) at www.bigfix.com when you run it it will open
a list of updates required for your system and tell you specifically about
each one. The ones you choose can be downloaded from your desktop without
visiting MS site at all. It's been around for many years and is safe to use.
You don't need to have your auto update turned on if you remember to use
this once in awhile.
