This PC is running Windows ME.
When I left click on the Speaker icon in the Taskbar and
select Adjust Audio Properties the panel displays Audio
Properties. (Preferred Device Sound Playback is " SB Live!
Wave Device " . For Sound Playback I click on Volume but
nothing that would allow volume adjustment appears. This
fault goes back to sometime in the recent past when I made
other changes - can't remember what - that obviously
disabled it. Any suggestions as to how I may get it
functioning again?.

Double click sound icon, unmute master sound control.
