Does anyone have any information on the quality and reliability of Zoom
Technologies, Inc Dial-Up Internal Modems?

Including any known issues?

Might someone have a web link to locate user reviews of Zoom modems?

Thanks for your consideration and assistance,

Dail up modems are now such mature technology that there
isnt any point in obsessing about them before buying anymore.

Don't purchase an internal, an external is easier to reset, and the
lights can tell you a lot about what's going on.

Stop by your local thrift store, might find one very cheap.

Not much of an issue anymore. These days it generally does not matter
what brand of dial up modem you get.

Internal modems these days are all AC97, which means they contain just
the interface but no communication processor anymore - that has to be
done by the cpu and needs a driver for windows.
On heavy-loaded or old or somehow misconfigured computers you may
experience occacional connection aborts.
These internal "win"modems are not well suited for alternative operating
systems like linux.

Wrong, there's still a few modems around which arent.

Wrong again. The vast bulk are controllerless but have a DSP.

You did manage to get that last bit right.

Wrong again.

Irrelevant if you arent using those.

I've been very happy with my Zoom model 3049 external serial modem; no
problems at all for the three years I've been using it, with four
different computers and with Windows 98SE, Windows XP, and various Linux
distros.

In all the years that I've been using Modems (since the 70's), I would
have to say that Zoom is one of the vendors I will not purchase from
based on many experiences with them.

US Robotics/Courier is the first choice of any quality solution.

Multitech makes some quality Voice/CID/Modems that are very nice.

Always buy an external instead of an internal, it will save you hours of
diagnostic time when you have a problem.
