Merging Multiple Computers emails onto 1 computer

I have used 4 computers over the last 6 months, and each has emails, both
sent and received. I would like to combined them all onto 1 computer.

This is what I HAVE tried:

1. I relocated the emails to a new location thinking each email might be
unique. It appears the emails are stored in a *.dbx file. I seem to recall
from years ago that this is a database file.

2. I've tried various versions of the import/export, including interfacing
with Outlook, (which I want to avoid), and haven't found a way to merge
them.

Is there an easy, simple solution to my problem?

Thanks. Please feel free to email me an answer!

Bill

1 computer, 1 database, 1 proprietary database format for 1 mailuser
app, 1 what?

Correct. .dbx is a MS OE proprietary compressed db format for news and
mail messages and other db features and folders.

Don't say Outlook OL when you mean Outlook Express OE -- or vice versa.
They are not the same program. However, OE is one way to manage .dbx
programs, since that is the proprietary format for its files.

You haven't adequately/ completely/ defined your 'problem' yet.

What database/ mail application/ would you like to have them amassed?
You should set a 'target' -- "I want to use <blank> as my mailuser
agent. Currently I am and have been using OE as my mailuser agent. I
want to put all of my mail into OE for database merging purposes and
then I want to export/import all of my mail into <blank> for future mail
handling."

-- or -- whatever else it is that is your target interest.

You should be aware of Tom Koch's information about OE store folders
http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm How OE stores files on your hard
disk -- Outlook Express User Files

ONLY if the program you are using supports it.
In other words, stop trying to make up ways to do it. If it isn't
speciifcally OFFERED in the mail program (or third-party tools), you
can't do it.

Keep in mind that you have no reason to stick with Outlook Express
solutions -- and I wouldn't consider it minimally intelligent to do
that anyway. Other programs are able to import from the OE message
database, and you might be able to import more than once to get that
done. (And you'd end up with a better mail program, which is a very
good thing!)
