have just bought a cheap pc microphone, and i have plugged it in to the pc.
How can i now test whether it works, since i have not connected up to skype
yet? I have switched the speakers, on but it does not feed out through
them. thanks

You will have to plug it into the Mic jack in your sound card. Then you
must run a recording software on your computer. Windows has one, don't know
what version you are using. Then you can save the file and play it back
through your speakers.

Assuming you are using XP, go to start, select control panel, double click
on the sounds and Audio Devices Icon. Click on the voice tab along the top.
Click on the Test Hardware button and follow through the wizard.

yep, the test worked a treat, many thanks. i see skype have started selling
a bluetooth headset. i wonder if i could get an existing blue tooth head set
to work o.k. or would i need special software, to get it to work with skype?

To be honest I don't know but can't see any reason why it shouldn't. It
would just be using the mic and earphones the same as the Skype one.
