This one is particularly nasty because they call their popup "registry
cleaner" so its impossible to find posts on cleaning it because doing
searches for "registry cleaner" simply yeilds people discussing
legitimate reg cleaners...

This one gives me an IE popup window telling me I should use registry
cleaner. EFF that! Its spyware... I can tell....

OK so my hijack this is 100% clean, yet I'm still getting this damn
thing. Is anybody familiar with this "registry cleaner" popup and how
to remove it? This one's DEEP in there...

I used spysweeper, adaware, spybot, microsoft's antispyware beta, trend
micro's housecall.... you name it.. So umm how do I get rid of this
damn thing?!

You may want to try turning off the messenger service if the description
of the problem in this link fits the bill.
