I passed 70-292 on monday the 25th. With my prior 2000 MCSE skills, I
found the exam to be familiar. There were lots of questions on new features in familiar services >>(DNS, AD, SUS, RDP, GPOs). It reminded me of the 218 exam for 2000 MCSA. I am scheduled for 296 on Sept. 5th. If anyone else writes this one before then, please post topics to focus on. If you are very comfortable with 2000 and know the new DNS features (stub zones and conditional forwarding), how to configure SUS, and use teh new Volume Shadow Copy Services, you wil be ok for 292. I have been using 2003 since it was whistler beta2 and have been working on upgrading our production network. I have configured most of the new features, the whats new in help and support for the product will help you out on the new stuff. Good luck to those who take it, wish me luck on the 5th for 296. MS always likes to test the new features.
Thanks for the info. I test 70-292 tomorrow. Have been MCSE since 351. >-----Original Message----- > I passed 70-292 on monday the 25th. Congratulations!
I took 70-292 on the 19th and didn't find it to be so bad either. For those who still need to take it, check out my review of the exam here: http://www.mcseworld.com/forums/info...ticle&artid=19 I am taking the 70-296 exam tomorrow in the AM, so I will be posting a review of that exam as well on the Web site. Davin,
That's a tough question... After looking through the final proofs again, I would say the answer to your question would be in regards to things such as MBSA that were not specifically called out in the exam objectives but still found their way into the exam bank. Another area might be in authoratative/nonauthoratitive AD restorations, which I did not cover in the book...don't remember if they ended up being in the exam bank. Overall, I personally believe that the book probably covers about 95-97% of the exam questions I saw. I also believe that it covers 100% of the exam objectives as posted...that's where the problem always lies when trying to put together a book: figuring out what MS means in the objectives. However, I will be one of the first to admit that no book is ever perfect or perfectly complete...until then we just keep striving to meet that mark. I also just had a conversation with the publisher at Syngress and he has informed me that 70-290, 70-291 and 70-292 are all at the printer and are all coming soon to booksellers and online retailers. Davin,
You're pretty much on the money (no pun intended) with that assessment. The current market does not support "getting rich" from writing books unless you are one of the lucky chosen few. Writing IT books is something I never figured I be doing, but it's certainly not the worst job around today. Thanks for your support and please don't hesitate to post a review on Amazon about the book, good or bad...I can only improve by knowing what I've done wrong. Best of luck in your studies, Will www.mcseworld.com PS - I will posting articles on MCSE World that are actually excerpts from selected Que and Syngress books on a weekly basis. This should serve to not only give you some good free information, but also to give you a feel for the tone of the books themselves. Check it out. True but if you listen carefully to the marketing info the assumption can be largely confirmed as can you distinction, from an ARCHITECTURAL point of view the product changed significantly but from a management and administrative point of view the changes are rather minor. It is in fact a "point" (or two) upgrade, Win2000 is NT 5.0 ---> 5.2 is Win2003 -- Herb Martin Herb Martin |
