Hi, i have a 2.52mb (2.39 MB 2,509,928 bytes) PDF file im trying to
squeeze onto a floppy disc.
Other that using WinRAR and splitting the file into two archives and
onto two FD's is there a way of compressing (or other software) in order
to have the file on one FD?
Thanks.

if you can get the file down to 1.7 megs using winzip

you could dmf format the disk at 1.7 megs

otherwise you will need to split it up

(or use the very rare 2.88 meg floppy drives)

Try 7zip. It has the highest compression ratio available today.
Freeware.

If you RAR it or ZIP it and it doesn't bring the size down to one floppy
size, then you're left with a decision, split it up or get a bigger disk
to put it on. Floppy disks are dinosaurs, can't you burn it to CD or
copy to a flash drive?

Thanks, doesn't quite reduce enough for a FD.
