I need 1 more elective for my MCSE and looking at Microsoft's site I see
that they are allowing CompTIA Security+ as an elective. After having finished the 70-214 I think it would feel like cheating to take the CompTIA Security+ to finish my MCSE. If I do take the CompTIA Security+ I would end up getting two certs at the same time so it's kind of tempting. On the other hand I know most companies are wanting their ITs to be knowledgeable with Exchange so it might be smarter if I took the 70-224. Any constructive thoughts would be appreciated, ~Ben Ben |

Hi Ben,
I knew you could take Security+ as an elective for MCSA, but I didn't know you could for MCSE. I would take the 70-224 but I like Exchange Server, so that's just me. You have to choose one that goes along with your interests, and from what you say 70-224 does just that. -- Paisleyskye www.icertify.net "Ben" <> wrote in message news:#T$... > I need 1 more elective for my MCSE and looking at Microsoft's site I see > that they are allowing CompTIA Security+ as an elective. Pretty much every person who has MCSA or MCSE will include MCP as part of their credentials. A lot of people got MCSA on the way to MCSE and include this in their resume as well. As you correctly pointed out: You would have the added benefit of yet another cert; Comptia's Security+. > >On the other hand I know most companies are wanting their ITs to be >knowledgeable with Exchange so it might be smarter if I took the 70-224. Why not take it as well? You could also do three extra exams and earn MCSE:Security. Check http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/m...curity/windows 2000.asp 216, 217 & 220. I was told a long time ago that MS was developing a cert that reflected specialisation in messaging systems, likely to include exams 224 & 225 as part of MCSA/E:Exchange type cert. I wasn't told about a Security specialisation, but it has happened anyway. So maybe the Exchange thing will one day also? In any case, if you have that interest and if you think it would be a career asset: Go for it! > >Any constructive thoughts would be appreciated, I tried. Marko |

If it's supported and advertised by Microsoft why would
you feel like it's cheating?! >-----Original Message----- >I need 1 more elective for my MCSE and looking at Microsoft's site I see >that they are allowing CompTIA Security+ as an elective. Security + is an elective for the MCSE Security cert and
for the standard MCSE!!! >-----Original Message----- >Hi Ben, > >I knew you could take Security+ as an elective for MCSA, but I didn't know >you could for MCSE. > >I would take the 70-224 but I like Exchange Server, so that's just me.
