I am using windows xp home,and I have bell sympatico.
When I try to access my e-mail account through Hotmail
I get an error message saying "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem
and need closing".
Can you give me some advice how to solve this problem.

Look at system management/eventviewer to pinpoint the error.
Try firefox for accessing hotmail.

Might try repairing IE:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

As an aside, there are many other browsers out there. Try some of them.
When you do, you will find that you will be using IE less and less.
