1. that depends on person to person, I will say one month to two month for a
good programmer of having 3+ yrs expereince

2. depends on how much you want to get involved, but yes you should know the
basic technology, ultimately you end up learning all core parts for the
paper.

3. Books, self study (if rich enough then go for transcender test exams)
