Hello,

I have a cisco 1720 that I'm trying to set up sub interfaces on. I've upgrade to ios 12.3(22) with a feature set of IP/ADSL PLUS. When I attempt to put encapsulation on the Fa0.1 I get the following:

Router(config)#int fa0.1
Router(config-subif)#enc
Router(config-subif)#encapsulation ?
% Unrecognized command

If I do a ? it shows up as a valid option. I've read a few other posts on this topic and as they suggested I upgraded the IOS and made sure I have at least IP Plus feature set.

If anyone is running subinterfaces on there 1720, can you please tell me what IOS your running.
