Obviously, it depends partly on exactly which tests you're
planning to take. Do you want a .NET cert? or previous
version? VB or C#? You haven't even bothered to say.

Also, there's tons of books, practice tests, courses, etc.
to choose from. What works best for one person in not
necessarily what works best for someone else.

Why don't you take the time to read the different postings
on this newsgroup to get some ideas as to what resources
you want to use? Unfortunatly, it's not as easy as
reading somebody's book and regurgitating facts and
terminology when you go to take the exam. If you're not
motivated enough to map out your own strategy for
studying, then maybe you should consider investing your
time and money in one of those "boot camp" programs where
they teach you everything.

Having said that, I will offer these observations based on
my own experience so far, and from postings I have read
from other people:

1 - All the information you need to pass the MCSD tests is
on MSDN, for free.

2 - While different people have different opinions about
different study guides, practice tests, etc. nobody seems
to have found a silver bullet.

3 - Most of the study guides are also reviewed on
Amazon.com. This can be helpful when you need to pick one.

4 - Your success depends on your ability to solve test
problems, not memorize facts for regurgitation. Maybe
brain dumps will work for you - I don't know - I don't use
them. Why not? It's not because some people say
they're "cheating" but tbecause I'm also trying to prepare
myself to be effective in the dynamite job I hope to get
when I get my cert.

It's not just about a piece of paper...it's about
developing your skills.
