My "Subjective Lens Evaluations, Mostly Nikkors" is good for MANY
Nikkors (and a few others), but are mostly for MF and AF full-frame
lenses (there is a small section at the end for Nikon DX lenses). It is at
www.ferrario.com/ruether/slemn.html - and it includes several URLs
for other good Nikkor lens review sites.

Catch as catch can.

I usually check at www.photozone.de first, they have some brief reviews
and technical testing of a fairly large selection of digital SLR
lenses. I also check at photodo.com and fredmiranda.com, sometimes.

Whether you can trust these reviewers is another question; what looks
fine to them may not to you - I wouldn't sell the farm based on any one
reviewer's say-so. A lens that performs well on one system may not on
the next, but in general good glass is good glass.

Another approach might be to google your lens of interest + "review"; I
always get a few hits this way. The quality of reviews you'll get can
be more than a little spotty, but that's the nature of the internet
beast.

I went there expecting a survey of lenses from different manufacturers
and found only Nikon lenses. Avoid unless you are a slave to Nikon.
