> B> On contrary I started with MS Books. They don't cover anything really yeah they show tiny snippets of what might be on the test and go into great detail about things not even needed. I studied that book for a long time and got burned on my first cert test. If I were that guy just buy the exam cram, you get 3 practice tests. Find a bootleg transcender cd and crack and you'll ace the test why pay more than 30 dollars in preparation. It's a waist and besides the MS certs a joke anyhow. Just write tons of code for a week and read and exam cram and remember before each question say "What would Bill Gates want me to say" Thats the secret. Hell I studied a week and a half for the 70-316 C# test, MS tests are a joke. Now Java tests those are a pain because actually have to undersand the compiler. And by the way I've been 100% MS all the way for the last 6 years before you try the He's an anti MS guy thing. I'm not anti-MS, but honestly, this text is PITIFUL. I covered the entire text - did all of the labs, spent time reviewing I know the textbook material solidly. This weekend, I started using the sample exam questions that came wit the Microsoft MCSD kit (and the Transcender pack.) To my shock, I' consistently scoring 60%. The problem is that SO much material on the exams is not covered in th textbook. Just from memory, here are some of the questions I'v encountered that AREN'T in the textbook: * Panel controls * ToolBar controls * XML validation * XML elements and nodes * COM+ components * Authenticode signatures * RegAsm and RegSvr32 * Packaging issues, like .MSI vs. .CAB, and merge modules So now I've spent a month prepping, and I'm *still* not ready for th exam. I've spent $650 on review materials, and now I need to bu another textbook. This is awful and horribly frustrating. - David Stei sfsdf Sign up for free daily practice questions at: http://www.QoD.U ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted via http://www.examnotes.ne ----------------------------------------------------------------------- View this thread: http://www.examnotes.net/article1013735.htm |

If you'd read some of the posts in here BEFORE you bought the MS Press
books, you would have known they weren't a lot of good for the MCAD exams... Best to go for the QUE books... Amit Kalani for C#, or Mike Gunderloy for VB.Net... These, a well as using the MSDN, will provide all the information you need... You can get by with MSDN alone, but that's written in Microsoft-ese... Also, unless you're well experienced with .NET... I wouldn't say a month was long enough to prepare for the exams... Not and really "know" the subject, which is the point of the exams in the first place...
