I am thinking of buying another digital camera and have been looking around
on eBay for a used one.

I see lots of Nikon 8700's very reasonably priced.
I rather like the 28 mm wide angle on the Nikon 5400

I have just printed some sample pics off Steve's Digicam site all at 9" x
6.75" its the pic of the building with the 'One Way' and the 'Nicholson'
sign on it.

1st the 8700
Very good, nice and sharp and clear.

2nd the 5400
Looked at closely, softer and not so finely detailed as the 8700, from a
normal viewing distance the 8700 has a distinctly sharper look.

3rd; I use a Casio QV4000 and thought I would see what that looked like and
downloaded that one as well, as it happens the 3 pics are very similar in
size, aspect and lighting. Well to my immense surprise this one is better
than the 5400 and so close to the 8700 that you do have to look quite
closely to see that the 8700 is actually better.
