I have just bought a Powershot A80 for my daughter to take to Sri Linka
during her holiday there in two weeks time. She already has an Olympus
Stylus D300 camera, but I see the A80 as being an improvement.
Now I discover a problem which hadn't previously occurred to me -
taking the camera to the TROPICS during the MONSOON period - hot with
very high humidity.
I have been researching the issue of cameras in the tropics some people
say they have not experienced any problems in these conditions -others
talk of their cameras being totally ruined by the heat+humidity.
Ironically, the Olympus is one of the few digital 'waterproof'
(splashproof in reality!): should she play safe and forego the pleasure
of using the A80 for this particular holiday and take the Olympus?
