I'm currently planning out my Canon Digital Rebel XT purchase and I'd
like to skip the kit lens in order to get either the Sigma 18-125mm or
the 18-200mm. I'm currently debating between these two and I can't
find much information on the 18-200mm. I know it's really new and
therefore there aren't many reviews out. I've searched the forums on
dpreview.com but haven't found much. I'm especially looking for sample
photos. I doubt I'd use 125-200mm very often, so what I'm mainly
concerned about is will the 18-200mm sacrifice quality in the 18-125mm
range in order to achieve 200mm? If the answer is yes then I think I
will go with the 18-125mm. It's cheaper and it will cover the majority
of what I want to do. However if the quality is the same in 18-125mm
range, then I wouldn't mind spending the extra money on the 18-200mm.
I really want to have a single lens that I can take with me on
vacations and not have to change lenses. So far the Sigma lenses seem
like a good match for utility, quality, and price. I also plan to get
the 50mm 1.4 for indoor low light work. I think these two lenses will
cover all my needs, at least while I learn to use the camera and about
dSLR photography.
If you know of any reviews or sample photos please post them! Thanks!
