Rather the majority of AIDS victims in Uganda are Catholics. What
you are not telling us is that in Uganda condom use, contrary to
the Popes decree, is promoted with equal zeal to abstinence.
The ABC to AIDS prevention.
Amnesty International says Uganda has one of the lowest HIV
growth rates in sub-Saharan Africa. This is a result of government
policy to encourage the distribution and promotion of condoms,
counselling, advice on safer sex, delayed first intercourse, and fewer
sex partners. Young people were encouraged to use condoms
as a preventive measure.

Bottom line: It's NOT immoral for consenting adults to have sex,
it's only immoral when Popes and Bishops trick the uneducated
Third World masses not to use condoms for safe sex, effectively
sentencing millions of them to a harrowing death.
Given the African AIDS epidemic, in this instance abstinence is
but a logical step to help prevent the disease spreading . But telling
people NOT TO USE CONDOMS under any circumstances otherwise
they burn in hell, is plain evil and technically wiping out the innocent.
Hitler also claimed to have never killed anyone, however the
implementation of HIS policies on the Jews murdered millions.
In much the same way the former Pope JP has blood on his hands
and will ultimately go down historically as one of the great tyrants
of modern age. A wolf masquerading as a sheep!
Millions have unnecessarily died because these misguided religious
tyrants view seamen as some kinds of perverted holy sacrament,
ironically even seamen containing AIDS!

** Amnesty International criticized conflicting messages from
influential leaders that will make it harder for people to get
the full and accurate information necessary to prevent the
spread of HIV infection and mitigate its impact. The organization
cited the comment in October 2003 of a senior cardinal from the
Vatican, that HIV can pass through condoms.
"Medical scientists and public health professionals overwhelmingly
state that condoms are an effective and necessary method of
preventing HIV transmission. Nevertheless the cardinal's statement
reflects the Vatican's policy against condom use in all circumstances, a
policy which conflicts with scientific knowledge and which places
lives at risk," said Amnesty International.

** Pope Spreads AIDS
Every year the Pope kills tens, possibly hundreds of thousands
of the world's most vulnerable people by the simple expedient
of forbidding Catholics to use condoms. While his imprecations
are dismissed by most churchgoers in the first world as a load
of papal bull, in countries in which there is little access to
alternative sources of information and in which women have few
rights, every papal decree against contraception sentences
thousands to a lingering death.
The Vatican wants to celebrate the year 2000 by canonising Pius
XII for helping the oppressed. A better way to mark the millennium
would surely be the indictment of John Paul II for crimes against
humanity.

** Plea to church on condoms
A leading Catholic newspaper in South Africa has called on
the church to relax its blanket ban on condoms to help in the

** The Pope has blood on his hands.
The greatest crime of his papacy, however, was neither
his part in this cover up nor his neanderthal attitude to
women. It was the grotesque irony by which the Vatican
condemned - as a "culture of death" - condoms, which
might have saved countless Catholics in the developing
world from an agonising Aids death. The Pope goes to
his eternal reward with those deaths on his hands. He was
one of the greatest disasters for the Christian church since
Charles Darwin.

** Vatican Position
Pope John Paul II on Saturday reiterated the Roman Catholic
Church's opposition to the use of condoms, saying that
"respect of the sacred value of life and formation about the correct
practice of sexuality" is the church's position on the issue. The
pope's comments followed a week during which the Spanish
Roman Catholic Church for the first time appeared to have
indicated acceptance of the use of condoms to prevent the spread
of HIV, although Spain's Conference of Catholic Bishops later
backtracked on the comments.
Kenyan Bishop Boniface Lele of Kitui, Kenya, said condoms could
"mean the difference between life and death," the
East African Standard/AllAfrica.com reports. He said HIV-positive
couples "faced with the sad prospect" of having their family "wiped
out" by the disease could prolong life by using condoms, which
might be a "lifesaver" in such situations, according to the Standard/
AllAfrica.com.

** Vatican cardinal breaks ranks over condoms. A Vatican Cardinal
is the latest church official - the most senior so far - to endorse the
use of condoms to prevent life-threatening HIV transmission, as
the debate on the issue continues to rage around the world.
Cardinal Georges Cottier, the theologian of the papal household,
told the Italian news agency Apcom last week that the use of condoms
was 'legitimate' to save lives in the poorest parts of Africa and Asia
where the Aids pandemic has been catastrophic. He argued that
condoms should be tolerated as a 'lesser evil' in instances
where the ideals of abstinence and fidelity are simply not realistic.
Cardinal Godfried Danneels, Archbishop of Brussels, and
Bishop Kevin Dowling of Rustenburg, South Africa, are among
several church leaders who have voiced their support for the use of
condoms to limit the spread of Aids. Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan,
who chairs the Pontifical Council for Health, recently appeared to recognise
the right of a spouse whose husband has HIV/Aids to demand that he
use a condom, according to a report by the Italian daily La Repubblica.

** In Africa, by contrast, celibacy has been much less accepted,
and most reported sexual problems have been between priests
and adult women. There was a scandal last summer after the
National Catholic Reporter reported that priests had been raping
nuns in parts of Africa.
The newspaper reported that the Vatican had known for seven
years that priests were having sex with nuns, and in some
cases raping them - apparently in part because in a continent
where many people have AIDS, the nuns were viewed as safe
sexual partners. In a handful of cases, nuns became pregnant
and were encouraged by priests to have abortions.

Dr. Peter Piot is the executive director of UNAIDS and accuses the
Catholic Church of helping to infect the world with AIDS!
GROSS: "Has the pope and the Catholic Church been an obstacle for you
on [condoms]?"
PIOT: "Yeah, the condom issue is one of the more difficult ones in our
daily work. And there, it is still true that the Catholic Church objects to
the use of condoms. When we look at what happens in practice, it's a bit
different. First, our position in UNAIDS in the following one, and that is
that we -when it comes to preventing sexual transmission of HIV, we have A,
B, C. And by that I mean, A for 'abstinence,' B for 'be faithful' and C for
'condom." It's easy to explain. The Catholic Church says A, B and we
complete the alphabet to go to A, B, C."
However,
Piot noted that programs like the "three life boats" initiative of
Tanzania's Catholic Church have been quite successful. The
program stresses abstention until marriage, faithfulness in
marriage, and the use of condoms for those who cannot follow the
first two rules. "The program is a success and it must come as a
total shock to those who believe the Catholic Church has
completely blocked the ear to condoms," Piot said.
