My son sent me some movie clips taken with his S-500. The files have no
extensions, so I can't play them by clicking on them. I have to open Windows
Media Player, then open the file.

I'd like to rename them with an extension that will let me click to play.
Any ideas?

Should be *.avi, I think. I'm surprised they've lost the extension somewhere
though.

According to the specifications listed below, they are "avi" files.
