I was on this 10 computer Tips website

http://www.ourcomputertips.com/compu...upgrading.html

http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html

Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06 Software by Lavasoft

I downloaded the AntiSpyware Software I scanned my system it came back
I was heavily infested with all sorts of things MY Uptodate Norton
Antispyware Antivirus says I am totally clear??

Is this a sales marketing gimmick to sell their software?

Heidi

No! I've used Ad-Aware for several years to good effect. Judging from
the frequent comments here ( I've no personal experience of Norton
products - being warned off!), I suspect Ad-Aware is trying to remove
Norton buggy bits!

No. They provide an excellent product, for free. It might tell you something
about the Norton product.

It may be that your description of "heavily infested" is somewhat
exaggerated, of course.

Yes. But occasionally some stuff that Nortons misses.

NEVER EVER DOWNLOAD things like adaware/Spybot from any place
but the original home site (EVER!!!)
Hm, i should stop shouting.
It is a very neat hack to hide some **** in something
reputable.
So I always google for pros and cons about a package,
and when I am convinced of the integrity of pack and site,
I download it from as close as possible to to home site.
Then if you find you are contaminated with al sorts of
trash, start removing it.
When in doubt, google for the name of some suspected
malware, before you try to remove it.
Often a site like Macafee has a spacial removal program
to get rid of the nasty ones.

The product reports a lot of stuff that nortons dosnt bother with. Nortons
dosnt bother with it because it is benign stuff like cookies from sites with
dodgie activities etc.

On a whole the only purpose served by adaware is to give a user a fright then a
warm fuzzy feeling

Do you always go off the deep end like this, or is this just a troll?

I'd trust Ad-Aware LONG before I'd trust anything with "Norton" in the name.

>Is this a sales marketing gimmick to sell their software?

Not unless it's Symantec with the gimmick. They're good at that. They're not
very good at AV or spyware detection, though. Or writing software, period. Now,
please stop crossposting this crap.
