I have an excellent Panasonic DVD recorder but am worried that it may
one day break down leaving me with lots of valuable content on DVD RAM
cassetes that will not play on other devices.
I want to download the content from these DVD RAM discs to my acer
laptop and then create and finalise DVD-R discs that will play on other
machines.
Can anyone help me?? I have loads of outputs on the dvd player but only
USB inputs on the Acer Laptop.

Just buy an external usb dvd burner with DVDRAM support. There out there.
Newegg sells DVDRAM capable units made by Lite-on, Philips, LG, etc.
