But they mention "music substitutions." I'm already marginally
disinterested....

There is just no way that the studios can afford to license all the
music used in WKRP. So, for them, the only options are to either
replace the original music or not release the DVD's at all.

Much of the music was changed for the syndicated release, and both
syndie and DVD changes were supervised by Hugh Wilson personally, who
approved.
(But yes, the Russian defector still tells Les Nessman "Hold me closer,
tiny dresser", because they couldn't afford Elton John.)

Actually, neither Hugh Wilson nor anybody involved with the show was
consulted for that syndicated version; the changes were made by MTM
productions when the company was completely falling apart (it would be
bought out by Fox a few years later), and they ordered a music editor
to replace all the songs wherever possible, whether it made sense or
not.

I don't know what music substitutions will be made this time around but
they will be different from those in that syndicated package, and
Wilson has at least been given a chance to hear the changes this time
around.

You might want to check this out:
http://www.raredvds.tv/products.php?...OVMTC=standard

They're asking $68.00.
I sure would like to find someone to go in half with.
They could have the originals as long as I get to make
digital copies of all the discs for myself...

Why? Don't you want to send your credit card info to a pirate site in the
Phillipines?
