I'm an old man, not even close to being a boy.

Wrong again. Don't smoke and don't chew gum. I also am guessing I have
2 more college degrees than you, at least.

Go visit your dentist too, your breath is nasty.

You're a goddamned idiot. I work on advanced equipment. You are an
E-1 grade POS, at best.

Thanks again for posting. I've finally remembered to try this -- I
unplugged it last night, and when I plugged it in again after work
today the menu screen was working again. I've made a timed recording.

Many thanks -- this was a great outcome!

**Excellent! It's a bit glitchy but I like my little JVC, it's the
workhorse while I reserve the nice Panny for archival programs.

Got my Costco AE rebate and, since I charge *everything*, even gas, to
that card, it was big enough for me to get a Panasonic DVD
Player/Writer--VCR combo without having to pay a cent, with a bit left
over for groceries.

Point is, it reminded me of why a Panasonic is usually worth ten
Toshibas or 5 JVCs. Sure, you pay a little more (well, unless you are
using your rebate to pay for it, heh, heh!) but it is worth every cent
and cheaper in the long run.

No more Toshibas for me EVER. Panasonic is the way to go.

Cheers,

Jaime

My old Panasonic VCR seems OK too, although a Mitsubishi S-VHS VCR is a step
upwards there. I never considered a DVD-VCR combo, and don't like that idea.
A lot of the cheap DVD players I tried from Sears and Walmart skip & freeze,
but I found a reliable Emerson model. Moral: don't buy the cheapest you can
find...
