For some of you guys, I apologise in advance.
I have finished my A Levels and am looking to get into the IT industry. Is it worth training up and doing the MCSE/MCSA? Is there a strong likelihood of getting a job once I've done this?! I know it's a really broad question but I'd really appreciate any advice available. Thanks in advance =?Utf-8?B?SCBL?= |

Advice would be to get experience if this is really what you want to do. Volunteer, try for internship, start out with a big box retailer and work your way into service dept, whatever it takes to get some hands-on. Then, if you decide that you want to continue, you might consider getting certified in what you are experienced in. -- JaR But you can call me Frank Remove hat to reply JaR |

I doubt that this is going to be the case. What "experience" do you think you'll be able to put on a resume? If you were hiring somebody to admin your servers, and be responsible for your data, and your connectivity, what would be *your* definition of experience? Would *you* hire somebody fresh out of a four to six week training program with a brand-new piece of paper claiming to be a systems admin to run your business critical network? About as likely as hiring a kid with a first-aid cert to do heart surgery. Sorry. Save your money, there's no shortcut. Get the training, sure, get the experience, definately, then get certified to show you know your stuff. -- JaR Not getting it Remove hat to reply JaR |
