Default Configuring a wireless network

Greetings folks,

First I will state that I know little about networking and Windows
internals but we are a small company so we all have to pitch in and
take on new challenges.

I am to setup a travelling training network that will not be connected
to the internet (however I despite what I am told by the users I think
it will be a handy future capability). One laptop will act as a web
server and is connected to a SMC WBR14-G via a lan cable. All the
other laptops will communicate to this server wirelessly. I have all
components of my network pinging each other. What I wish to know is
how to configure the router and the laptops.

Should I set them up as a wireless network?

When setting up the network connection on the PCs should they be setup
as PCs that connect to the internet (even thought they don't) through
another computer? It seems that would give them a sense of the correct
hierarchy.

Will I encounter difficulties when I substitute the web server (the
one connected via lan)?

It is probably immaterial to this discussion but we will probably
firewall with MAC addresses, etc.

I would appreciate your thoughts. Also would like some recommended
reading material on networking.

Thanks,

jh

Well I believe you will want to setup the WBR14-G as an access point see
http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html, and you'll want to set up the one
laptop that will act as a web server this way,
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...02april08.mspx
All the remaining laptops will be setup as if they where connecting to the
Internet. http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Config.html and
http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Security.html and
http://www.ezlan.net/wpa_wep.html
