Hi
If your computer is configured to Share resources they can. Local protection for unsecured Wireless can be partially provided by Software Firewall installed on each one of your computers, that is configured to block all Local IP addresses, but your own (Aka Trussed Zone). Let's take two scenarios here. 1) the person who's connection you are using
is a hacker, by choosing to use his connection you are routing everything through his system. That places him in what hackers call the man in the middle position. And idea position to intercept everything you send and receive. He has the potential to track your every move on the net. In theory he could certainly send you infected mail, that once open on your computer infects your computer. And a firewall is not necessarily going to stop this traffic. #2) The person providing your internet access, is computer illiterate, and doesn't know they are providing it. They have a totally open system. As such it is a relative easy thing for someone to zombify their system and take it over, gaining complete control of there computer, once this occurs, you're back into situation number 1 -- David Hettel Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
