Default Accessing an external hard drive

I have a wireless network at my home, connecting my notebook and a desktop
PC. Both computers use Windows XP Home.

Is it possible to access an external hard drive connected to the desktop PC
from my notebook computer?

Hi
Yap, it is possible.
Make sure that the external Drive's Sharing is On, and Share ahead.
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what is allowed
to be shared.

Hi
If every thing his set correctly it should work, check the Firewall, to make
sure that it does not block local traffic.
More hints in the paged that I linked before,
