Default Thunderbird: view/threads setting

Sometimes TB remembers my view/threads settings for a newsgroup or rss
feed, and sometimes it doesn't. On NG's I generally want it to be
"view/threads/threads with unread". But sometimes when I close TB and
come back in the next day, it reverts to showing all threads. How can I
force it to remember my settings all the time?

Not sure how this applies. The article doesn't even mention Thunderbird.
