Default fun problem with wireless ics...

hi,

friend has a laptop running win xp home...
getting internet wireless from neighbour (weak signal but working)...
laptop is also ethernet connected wired to a WRT54G router...
to lan port #1, not to wan port...
with the intent of sharing its internet connection
& file sharing,
thru router, wirelessly to a desktop running win xp home...
desktop using a usb wireless adaptor...

have changed router ip to 192.168.0.150
& have disabled router as lan dhcp server...
and both machines can connect to & administer router at that ip...

without mentioning further issues...
now, if laptop has both wireless & lan enabled...
laptop cannot connect to wireless internet from next door...
& if only wireless enabled, can connect but connection drops
if we enable the lan

have changed the laptop adaptor metrics from auto
which was 20 for lan & 25 for wireless
to 20 for wireless & 25 for lan

is it normal that the laptop's wireless connection
should show default gateway as the ics ip for its lan connection...
192.168.0.1 ???

thanks,
mike.
