I have a Dell Inspiron 600m with an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG card. I
recently set up a wireless router in my house but my laptop will not detect any connections.(the rest of the computers and laptops around the house work fine with the wireless, so it is nothing to do with the router) It said the Wireless Radio is turned off, and showed how to turn it on (Fn + F2), but when I do this it says "The Intel PRO/Wireless Network Connection is still disabled. Use PROSet/Wireless to enable it." Does anyone know where I would go to do this/what I would have to do to be able to turn on the Radio? I'm pretty sure this is the only reason it's not detecting the connection, I just have no idea how to turn it back on. Thanks =?Utf-8?B?TWlrZSBN?= |

Try this and see if it helps, Edit the PATH via right-click My Computer,
click Properties, click Advanced, click Environment Variables, click Path, click Edit, and move Intel's \Wireless\Bin folder to be the very first item in the list. -- David Hettel Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I tried that, and got as far as editing the Path, but when I looked for the
\Wireless\Bin folder on the list, I couldn't find it. The list looked like this: %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\Sy stem32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel;"C:\Program Files\MailFrontier";C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\ "David Hettel" wrote: > Try this and see if it helps, Edit the PATH via right-click My Computer, > click Properties, click Advanced, click Environment Variables, click Path, > click Edit, and move Intel's \Wireless\Bin folder to be the very first item > in the list. > > > |

Hmm...
I don't have a Dell but my experience is Intel generally installs a folder in C:\Program Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin or something along those lines, in that folder is a file called LIBEAY32.DLL if that file is over written by another program or is missing you'll experience what you are experiencing. You might look and see if you have such a file on your computer. -- David Hettel Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. 1. Please open Device manager. Is the 2200BG visible and enabled?
2. Run Proset. Which version it is? Is radio enabled? (v10.x - 'Wireless ON" button at bottom of window) Older versions of PROset ( 7, 8, maybe 9) are installed in Program Files\Intel\Proset; these versions were shipped for the 2200BG. New PROset v. 10.x is installed in Program Files\Intel\Wireless\Bin. Neither version, however, added itself to PATH on machines that I've checked. File LIBEAY32.DLL is the OpenSSL - it is included with all kinds of SSL enabled software, but it is unlikely that it can cause what OP sees. (Anyway, it is worth to check for other copies of LIBEAY32.DLL on path). Regards, --PA |
