Windows Mobile Beta Exams

[also posted in MCITP, but not everyone has access to that, so my apologies
if you are reading this twice.]
Back in August-September, Microsoft offered the betas for the Windows Mobile
5.0 exams (71-500 and 71-540). Now in October-November, they are offering
them again! I took both exams in September. My questions:
1. Why are they offering the betas again?
2. Are these the same exams as last time?
3. Can I take the exams again?
I have re-signed up for 71-540 just in case the first set of Betas were
thrown out for some reason. I obviously don't want to take it if I passed the
first time or if it jeopardizes any part of my certification status. I
e-mailed MCPHelp at microsoft.com, but have not heard a reply from them.
Does anyone know what's going on with these betas?
