Internet Gateway Speed

Have a D-Link DI-624 wireless router as the Internet Gateway. Win XP shows
its speed as 10.0 mps. The LAN connection speed is shown as 100 mps. The
router is a "Super G" device capable of 108 mps, so I'm confused. The whole
setup should be operating at 100 mps or better but it doesn't appear to be.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Your internet speed will be limited to the speed your ISP provides. For most
home users this will be only a fraction of 802.11b speeds. There are many
sites on the Internet where you can test your download speed. For most users
just browsing the Internet you'll never get the full Internet speed your DSL
or cable ISP provides. My experience is seldom if ever does the LAN operate
at it's full rated speed, even when transferring files between computers on
your LAN (which would use the most of your bandwidth).

The Dl-624 wire connection is the regular 100Mb/sec. The Wireless is capable
to connect at SuperG only if you have a matching SuperG card from D-Link.
SuperG is rated as hardware clock 108Mb/sec. at best it would yield
functional 40Mb/sec.
You have to set the client card parameters to Auto. Pending on the
environment it would yield the max possible under the circumstances. I.e if
there is wireless related noise, or obstructions ,or you are too far away

Thanks for the feedback. There's no problem with the wireless card
connection, I'm just wondering why the desktop computer which is wired to the
router shows 10 Mbs for the gateway when the LAN is showing 100 Mbs and the
router is supposedly operating at at least 100 Mbs. Not sure it really
matters as downloads are pretty quick.

Hi
In some places, LAN's info. display does not actully measure the traffic,
there is few optional numbers that can be displyed and choice is made
according the closer category.
