Hash: SHA1 Hello, When viewing a message in TB, there is this little plus (minus) sign next to the message subject, to make the addressees appear (disappear). Is there some keyboard shortcut or access key to do this? I can’t find it anywhere in the View menu or elsewhere either. Read carefully my description, I cannot word it better. Is there no way to do this inside TB? That is a serious flaw, if you ask me. Not a good thing for users that can’t/won’t use a mouse... In the Folder Pane,(at the left) there are plus/minus signs to expand or collapse the trees. For mail accounts it shows the folders, for news the different groups subscribed. In the List Pane, the upper right in the default three pane view, there are plus/minus signs if using threaded view, to expand or collapse the threads. Neither of those would seem to be what you are asking about. When viewing a message, I don't see a plus/minus at all, though that may well be theme related. The only thing even close was Rom's guess, which clearly was not what you mean. Can you clarify your question? Lee |

Are you referring to the "+" or "-" sign that appears next to the first message in a thread, and which expands or collapses the thread? If so, you can expand a thread when the message (with the "+" sign next to it) is selected by pressing the right arrow key. You can collapse a thread by pressing the left arrow key to navigate up the thread until you are on the message with the "-" sign, then pressing the left arrow will collapse the thread. Alternately, you can press "*" to expand all threads, or "\" to collapse all threads. I don't know of a single key stroke to collapse just the current thread. In a very deep thread, it can require multiple pressings of the left arrow to climb to the first message, and only then will the left arrow collapse the thread. I find it easiest if in that situation to use "\", collapsing all threads, and then re-expand other threads as necessary. YMMV. -- Andy Luddy Perform appendectomy to reply |

Still that's what I would have guessed, but when Rom suggested Headers Toggle, which would seem to do the job, he got shot down. I dunno, wait for clarification I guess. Lee |

You can also toggle (expand/collapse) the current thread by pressing enter on the message. This, I think, is a bug; enter also opens the message. This means that, if I have a thread expanded, and then open the first message in that thread (by pressing enter), the thread is collapsed. This is extremely irritating. Also, if you're using a screen reader, the state of threads will not be correctly read out. This resulted in me missing tons of messages before I realized they could be opened and the replies were underneath. This is interesting, as the new/unread/replied icons are read just fine. -- Samuel Proulx mailto: http://fastfinge.livejournal.com I'll never be cruel to an electron in a particle accelerator again. -- The Doctor, in "The Pirate Planet" |
