Default Networking doesnt seem to load on xp

This is really weird! Sometimes (getting more frequent) I boot up and it
doesnt come up with network icons in my tray. Then when I go to start bar and
"connect to" tab, the start bar freezes. I know it must be a windows issue.
The WAN utility that came with the laptop connects to the wireless network
and shows in the tray, so I know the wireless NW card is fine. It seems to be
that windows has a network start up issue. but then every other time I start
up the wireless networking icons appear in the tray straight away, like
nothing was ever wrong, which makes me think it isnt a registry issue... but
I am not so IT literate! has anyone experienced this problem? What can I do
to sort it out, apart from formatting the C drive !!?

Thanks for reading

Well it would help to know what brand of laptop it is and what brand of
network card it is. Sadly it could be a card failure, or corruption of the
drivers for your card. It could be a lot of things, it's just a guess
without knowing more about your system

Thanks for your reply, I have a rock xtreme 3.4 ghz ti. It is a year and a
half old, network card is a wireless CB54G3/MP54g3 Wireless LAN Card... as I
said, it connects fine through the INPROCOMM Wireless LAN Card utility ..the
signal strength is around 85 % and 99% link quality, so the card is
working!...

Any suggestions?

One suggestion is to look and see if Windows or the Wireless card is managing
the connection.....the laptop could also have a built in wireless feature.
You might have to do that in BIOS....at one point, my IBM laptop had XP,
Linksys, and IBM all trying to monitor wireless network etc etc.

Reading your note, it looks like you might have a conflict between XP and
INPRO both managing the device.

Turn one utility off, doesn't really matter which one is off and which
utility you use. I use the XP wirel
