I have been trying to connect to a wireless access point for several days
using a wireless connection and have the following problems: I was just able to connect, but the connection icon in the tray shows I am not connected when I have internet access. I am just not sure how I got that. When I click on View Available Networks, there is nothing there, but using a small ap - Network Stumbler - shows many connections active. I added one of the available networks into the Wireless Networks tab in the wireless networks properties box, and although it disapeared, it seems to work - at least for the moment. I have updated all of the drivers, firmware etc. and am using Windows XP Pro, SP2. How do I get the wireless network connection to work the way the windows instructions say it will? =?Utf-8?B?Sm9obiBHcmVnb3J5?= |

Hi
I have an additional idea to add to my previous answer (two posts bellow). If you have a regular wire NIC in your computer, it might be that it shows in the tray, but it does not indicate any thing since it is not the Wireless Icon. If this is the case, disable the Wire NIC, and enable the Icon in the Wireless Network properties. Look at the two last lines in this pic, http://www.ezlan.net/network/Wireless1.jpg Jack (MVP-Networking).
