Default What application writes/reads APE files

G'day all
I have been given a CD image that is in an .APE format. Can anyone tell me
what application reads/writes these files?
Thanks
Mark

You're welcome. I actually thought it was a joke at first, monkey-APE
but it looks like the real thing

It is. Programmer in-joke, y'see

The best way to burn APE image/cue combos, by the way, is via a third-party
Nero plug-in. Exact Audio Copy can theoretically do it as well, but in
practice its burning engine is complete garbage and only actually works on
the full moon
