Hi everyone. I purchased the original ALIEN movie on DVD (not part of any
set). I love the quality! However, I don't remember so much of the alien in the original release. Obviously the graphics for Mother were added in, but did they also add more of the creature? What edition is this? Thanks! Samurai |

Also, if this is that version, you should be able to choose between the "Original Theatrical Version" or the "Special Edition"...if you don't have these menus or aren't offered this choice, then this is the "regular" DVD, and no changes were made from the time it appeared in the theaters in 1979 (on other words, no extra alien stuff, so you must have mentally blocked out some of the alien since you saw it last). The Special Edition adds a few extra minutes, including new scenes with the Alien Transmission before the Nostromo lands, and Ripley finding Dallas while Mother counts down to self destruct. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

Boo! Rubber gloves! Help me with this washing up, will you? That scene should have been edited so the last ten seconds or so of the alien's rubber fingers wobbling about were removed. |

This is the "regular" edition, with deleted scenes as extras, but the Mother
graphics have to be updated! |

I don't remember seeing anything anywhere on any of the computer screens in any version of the film, that couldn't have been achieved in 1978. Want to post screengrabs of what you're talking about? There is a great deal on "computer screens," very crude graphics, but they could have been rear-projected. When Dallas and Ripley confer with Mother there are numerous shots of screens and messages. However, in the DVD these are the "classic" neon green of the ALIEN franchise. They are crips and clear as opposed to the crappy scrolling binary numbers, etc of other scenes. > > Want to post screengrabs of what you're talking about? > > LH > Don't know how to do this. Sorry. How about referencing some time codes in the movie? |

At least they looked like the BASIC version (published in Creative Computing) that I remember. I understand that there is now a director's cut available. You might have that. |
