Man was that a boring session....
It was kinda funny though. They were going on about how Vista has a new
feature that automatically detects when you add an external monitor to a
laptop, and switches too it. So when they plug in the projector to the
laptop...what do they get...a blank screen....I guess that shows you
shouldn't be using a beta product in a production environment....
Then of course there windows xp computer seemed to freeze up a couple times.

On the plus side, they were handing out the goodie bags first thing in the
morning ( if you asked for one) So it was easy enough to leave early

Thanks for the update, James. Of course, we already knew everything
in Canadia was boring...

just kidding...

I did like the part where the screen went blank though.

As I understand it, prostitution, and marijuana, are legal in (parts of)
canada.

Also, there's been talk that there's a lot of gun violence there.

If you're into that sort of thing, and can put up with sharing your turf
with Neil, go to canada, you might find it a happening, exciting place.

Personally, I like to sit at home with a nice piece of toast. It's kinky.

If Microsoft was smart, they'd never show off their products until years
after they sold them, when they ACTUALLY work (in theory), and instead,
they'd just record their presentations on DVD before they go to their shows.

They'd make 10 copies of the presentation, and bring 10 different dvd
players and projectors, and there'd be no more of these ludicrous
show-stoppers during the key points of the presentation. It's not like they
don't have the resources.

Yeah, sure, you want to be flexible and be able to show off everything in
real time, and that's great. But, if you wind up looking dumb trying to get
what you want when it's not really necessary, well, you look dumb, and I'd
try to avoid pain and instead satisfy my needs, if I actually was a REAL
MAN.

It's pretty much understood in the industry that beta software is going to
screw up, so when you switch into demo mode to show up something in
realtime, preface it with "We're in uncharted territory here. We believe in
our product, however, it is a work in progress, bear with us."

WHAT? WHERE?!? oh, you misunderstood. he said C-A-N-A-D-A not N-E-T-H-E-
R-L-A-N-D-S...they sound so much the same....and we both have same sex
marrige...which is good because I didn't want my Mrs. changing sex on
me...unless she was changing to "frequent" from "infrequent", BUT THAT'S
A DIFFERENT STORY!!!

Hi James,

On the contrary, I found the sessions quite interesting. Of course I was in
Montreal and the presenter was Rick, while you were in Edmonton (Winnipeg?)
with Rodney. I heard that Rodney had some problems with the demos but that
is just bad luck... it happens to the best of us. I was once invited to
present at McGill University, I spent a month getting my demos and slides
and everything ready, and when I got there the overhead projector was
broken. Equipment faults happen. I am sorry you did not enjoy it, and hope
the Winter tour will be more to your liking.

Best regards,

M
