I have been given the task of fixing some problems with remote switches, Cisco Catalyst 2900 series.
I have the login/password to MOST of these, but some are unknown (they have been in use for a long time, and anyone who would have the documentation/known the password is long gone) but I DO know the SNMP community strings (RO and RW)
We currently do some port management with an internal appliation (up and donw ports) using SNMP. I am trying to update the IOS on these, and redo the configs to secure them a bit better (passing telnet/snmp strings in plaintext, no Access lists to restrict these).
I have tried to use the following string: snmpset -c XXXXXP -v 1 XXX.XXX.145.30 .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.10.12.XXX.XXX.202.115 d config.text
and I get the following error:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.10.12.216.119.202.115: Bad value notation (config.text)
any ideas on how I can push a new config up to these? Hoping to avoid a trip to the remote datacenters.
