They're not saying there's anything wrong with TOR, but they
apparently took the computers because of another investigation: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/09...ervers_seized/ -- Arthur T. - ar23hur "at" intergate "dot" com Looking for a good MVS systems programmer position Arthur T. |

Even the most clueless police computer specialist would known that seizing a TOR server is utterly useless. Sebastian Gottschalk |

It is quite clear that states will adopt radical anti-anonymous networks laws in the future. This could be made by making the people running the exit nodes responsible for what is made through their machine, discouraging them to run servers. I wonder if such laws already exist. For instance I think that in some countries the law makes you responsible if your machine gets hacked and used as a relay to perform an attack. Such laws might lead to "freedom" havens without such restrictive laws that will be used to exit the anonymous traffic. Let's guess that such havens will be in the position to gather quite interesting information. Kind regards Ludovic Ludovic Joly |

No, but the point is that the service is hidden. You can't seize what you can't locate. Exit nodes are easily identifiable. They're indexed and cataloged by the software itself in fact. If you're running a potentially incriminating hidden service from the same location you're drawing attention to with an exit node you're just being a fool. Tor can do a lot of things, but it can't fix stupid. TwistyCreek |

But see, for instance: Locating Hidden Servers by Lasse Øverlier and Paul Syverson. http://www.onion-router.net/Publicat...en-servers.pdf Regards, nemo_outis |
