I have Firefox 1.5 and Internet Explorer 7 installed in my computer, the broadband connexion is working when I use it for newsgroups, IRC, or any other thing. I can ping anywhere I want, but when I try to browse the internet with any of the browsers I have it always gives me a page not found. I have checked the internet connexion settings in both browsers to see that no proxy is used, have it set up to "Direct connexion", I have changed nothing and it always has worked. And now to make things more confusing when I browse the internet with a browser that runs from inside an USB stick and it works fine. I have run the antivirus (Avira) which misteriously had been disabled, haven't got a clue how... It has picked up two trojans which are now deleted, yes I know I should have researched them before deletion but I didn't, but I still can't get the browsers to work, I would like to find a solution that forces me to make clean install as this is time consuming. Is that possible? -- /"\ \ / ASCII ribbon campaign X against HTML mail / \ and postings Pascual |

Try uninstalling and re-installing the browser and see if it works then, you might have deleted a file or two that it needs. traveler 66 |

You're telling someone with a known compromised machine to treat the symptoms and just plod along as though nothing has happened. It's very likely that with two trojans and a disabled AV someone has zombified his box, and he needs to immediately disconnect, wipe, and rebuild. But your solution is to reinstall Firefox/IE. You're an idiot. Anonyma |

If he uses his computer for trolling and spamming like you do and there isn't anything important on it, I suppose he could. If he doesn't, it might be better to try and fix the problem before loosing important files. Even if there is a back up, it's no guarantee of protection against valuable data loss. > > But your solution is to reinstall Firefox/IE. It may be a standard, but it's an incorrect one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plural_of_virus Notan Notan |

Waste of time. The poor guys virus software has already been compromised. Using it to scan/clean an infected system is about as bright as sticking your left hand in a fire to see if it's hot. Right after you burned the **** out of your right hand. Just about the level of intelligence we've come to expect from you now that I think about it. > > his box, and he needs to immediately disconnect, wipe, and rebuild. > > If he uses his computer for trolling and spamming like you do and there > isn't anything important on it, I suppose he could. It's 'backup' you illiterate buffoon. And it's the ONLY guarantee there is. Your mind numbingly misinformed solution is more likely to cause damage and data loss than anything else, especially if the malware author takes exception to clueless wannabes like you trying to overwrite their work. Like so many do. > > But your solution is to reinstall Firefox/IE. > > If the viri happen to be out of the system at this point, yes. WTF is a "viri"? You're not only using a rube's perversion of a nonexistent plural, you're misspelling it worse than the typical 9 year old "1337 hAxOr" who uses it in the first place. > > > > > You're an idiot. > > Comming from you that doesn't mean much puppet, Directed at you it's an insult to the average idiot.
