Default Customizing Modelsim XE III with TCL/TK

Does XE III not support some of the Tcl/Tk interfaces? The standard IQ polar plot example on doulos.com, for example, doesn't work in my version. Things like add_menu (or even _add_menu, found in the Xilinx docs) don't seem to exist, nor is vsimPriv recognized, nor is .wave the default name of the wave window. I must be missing something crucial.

Some things work just fine, like creating a widget to add some buttons to an application, but that's just standard Tcl/TK without any special Modelsim hooks. I did figure out I needed a "load tk84" at the beginning, but this doesn't help the above problems.

Thanks for any help. (I tried opening a Webcase, but keep getting a server error.)
