hello all, I hope someone is able to help me out on this. I am trying use a
demo of some software I downloaded which enables you to use your laptop as an
additional monitor for your desktop via network. Seems like a pretty cool
idea. I can't get it to work though. I have the program loaded onto both
computers. I went through the troubleshooting sections but still no luck. I
can ping the desktop from laptop but not visa versa. I am wondering why this
is and if this is the reason the software will not work. Anyone able to help
me out??? If anyone wants to try this software out I got if from
www.maxivista.com. it is a free download. thanks

If you can ping from one machine to the other, then they are connected.

If they are connected, and you can't ping in just one direction, this is
almost always due to a firewall.

They have provided a good description of firewall issues:

I would check this again.
