Default BluRay.. not the Holy Grail

Looks like bluray is not quite the holy grail that we were led to believe.
It's lacklustre launch passed quite unnoticed after all the hype, nothing
like the scale of enthusiasm or take-up of HD-DVD.
thanks
HD-DVD UK

don't be silly... everyone knows that hd-dvd was a sellout in the usa when
launched and bluray has hardly caused a stir apart from all the hype. Now
watch all the bluray supporters switch camps and abandon sony to try to sell
bluray to playstation owners.

I personally think BOTH will be huge losses for all the manufacturers
for a lot longer than they anticipated..... We'll be very lucky if we
have a clear winner and decent prices in 5 years. And all this
"shilling" for one or the other isn't going to make any difference,
either.

That would be a different definition for each individual.

for *me* it's approximately 20% of the initial price (for electronic
items). ie, my first VCR, about $200, and the same for my first CD
burner. So my first HD DVD recorder, $100-$200.
