Having never worked with fiber I did a very stupid thing today. I
plugged in the SC cable not respecting the notches on the transceiver and cracked the perimeter housing. Please don't flame me, I realize it was a stupid thing to do. My question is: Will the cracked external plastic perimeter housing affect the connection adversly? Will the transeiver still work? Is the housing simply there as a means of properly respecting polarity or does it play a role in securing the SC patch cord to transceiver? I noticed that the cable still plugs in very snug despite the breakage I caused. PhoBix |
